How to Enhance your PlayStation or Xbox Experience with PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold

Learn how to get the most out of your consoles with PS Plus and XBOX Live Gold. Plus find out how to setup and activate these console memberships.

First of all, let’s get started with what awesome freebies you’ll get by signing up for either PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold this month!

I’ll then follow up with a “how to” guide on getting your subscriptions up and running on both consoles!

The King Of Fighters XIII: KOF XIII marks the conclusion of the “Ash Saga”, the third story arc of KOF centered around the characteristically ambiguous Ash Crimson. Mechanically, XIII returns to an established system that resembles KOF 2002 Unlimited Match more-so than the questionable KOF XII

PlayStation Owners, your January will bring you these delectable delights to add to your library:

Man Eater (PS5 Version):   Plot. A film crew for a reality television show follows experienced Cajun shark hunter Pierre “Scaly Pete” LeBlanc and his son Kyle as they hunt for an adult bull shark with a harpoon in its side owned by Scaly Pete’s father. They manage to capture the shark after it goes on a killing spree at a beach.

Shadow of The Tomb Raider:  Set shortly after the events of Rise of the Tomb Raider, its story follows Lara Croft as she ventures through the tropical regions of the Americas to the legendary city Paititi, battling the paramilitary organization Trinity and racing to stop a Mayan apocalypse she has unleashed.

Greedfall:   The player, alongside other settlers, mercenaries, and treasure hunters, explore a remote island where the locals, who are fighting off invading settlers, are protected by supernatural beings. The game includes combat, diplomacy, and stealth

Xbox Live Gold: A How To Guide

The Xbox Console series technically has Few ways in which to activate its Xbox Live Gold Membership feature: Either getting an Xbox Live Subscription on its own or Subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which includes Xbox Live Gold, plus access to over 100 Xbox titles plus other benefits such as exclusive member discounts and deals!

We all value what leaves that little folding bit of fabric, that we all carry around with us everywhere: our wallet, right?

Here’s a breakdown of what to expect to leave it each month:

Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Prices*

Right! Here’s a easy few ways to set up Xbox Live Gold on your console!

When you first set up your Xbox, you received an offer to join Xbox Live Gold. So, if you’re already an Xbox Live Gold member, you’re good to go.

If you didn’t join at setup, you can at any time. Here’s how:

  • Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
  • Select Profile & system” > Settings > Account > Subscriptions.
  • On the “Subscriptions” screen, select “Learn about Gold.”
  • On the “Choose the plan that’s right for you” page, select Xbox Live Gold. If you have a digital code, you can redeem it by selecting Use a code.
  • If you don’t already have a credit card on file, enter your credit card info by selecting Add a credit card.
  • Follow the remaining steps to set up your Xbox Live Gold account.

Will you be Opting for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate? Then you simply purchase this either on your Xbox Console in Store > Memberships or online and search: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and go direct to Microsoft’s website to complete your purchase.

Alternatively, one of your loveable family members or significant other may of even bought you an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Gift card? Well, here’s a quick guide for that too! There are 3 ways to do this, are you ready!?

A nice easy way to redeem a code is to Use the Xbox Live Website: redeem.microsoft.com and make sure you’re logged into the account that you’d like to give access to these awesome online features.

Enter your 25 Character Code

Click Next and check for Confirmation! It’s really that easy.

Another way to redeem a code is to:

  • Power up your Xbox Console
  • Scroll over to the “Store” tab, Top right of home screen and Tap A
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for “Use a code” and Tap A on it
  • A Keyboard should appear after tapping A on the field provided; here enter your 25-character redemption code
  • Tap your Menu button to confirm entry into field and Tap A again to confirm your code – And Voila! You’re good to go! 

Did you know you can also redeem a code via the Xbox App?

  • Open the Xbox App (Assuming you have this installed on your Phone, if not; search for it in your App/Play Store. It’s free!)
  • Tap Sign In at the bottom of the Screen
  • Enter your Xbox Email Address
  • Tap Next then enter your password, then tap Sign In
  • Top left of your screen will show Three lines – Tap this
  • Tap Microsoft Store in dropdown menu
  • Tap Redeem a Code
  • Enter your 25-Character redemption code
  • Tap Next

Aaaaand Bam! You’re Xbox Console is now ready for you dominate with your friends online, not to mention be up and running for exclusive discounts and free games every month! Enjoy!

 

PlayStation Plus: A How To Guide

Moving onto setting up Sony’s Subscription service: PlayStation Plus! You will be up and running and online with your friends in no time after following this quick guide.

Firstly, “What’s the cost?” I hear your Wallet ask. We’ve got you!

  • PlayStation Plus - £49.99 Annually

Sony offer you a few ways in which to enhance your PlayStation experience and we’ll guide you through them below. This guide will assume you’ve set up your PSN account when setting up your console.

An easy way to get started is to visit: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/ps-plus/join-ps-plus/

  • Select a Plan that suits you
  • Click “Add to Cart
  • Get yourself signed in with the same email and Password for your PSN account
  • Confirm your selection
  • A Side Menu will then appear Click Accept (It will confirm that you will be charged your subscription amount of choice automatically until you cancel)
  • Once your payment details have been submitted, click the little box at the bottom to acknowledge immediate access
  • Click “Order and Pay” and you’re done for this one!

Do you have the PlayStation App installed on smart phone? (If not, it’s available for FREE in the App Store or Play Store) Then here’s another way to get started!

  • Tap the PS App
  • Get yourself logged in
  • Tap the “Search” Icon (Magnifying glass)
  • Search “PlayStation Plus”
  • Select the play that suit you
  • Then follow the same steps as above in Part 1 of this guide.

Have you received or ordered Redemption Codes for PlayStation Plus? We’ve got that covered for you too! These codes can be redeemed in a few ways, however we’ll make it simple for you and give you the easiest ways!

Firstly! Turn on your PS4 console

  • Now Select PlayStation Store – Tap X
  • Scroll all the way down to “Redeem Code” (Last but one)
  • Tap X again
  • Enter your 12 Digit Code into the field given
  • Select “Confirm”
  • The next screen will show you what your code is redeeming, check it matches and Select “Confirm”
  • Now Select “OK
  • Boom!! – PS Plus is Unleashed!

This process is a little different on the PS5 console, so here’s the low down on that for you:

  • Similarly, Turn on your PS5 console
  • Load into your Account
  • On your home screen, Make sure you’re on the submenu of “Games”
  • Select “PlayStation Store” and Tap “X
  • On the far right of your screen select “More”
  • (This is the 3 dots next to the shopping cart)
  • Tap “X” again
  • Scroll down one, to “Redeem Code”
  • Enter the 12-digit code Code
  • Select “Redeem

Then follow the instructions as above and you’re all sorted on your Next Gen Beast!

We now reach for our trusty smartphone again! As you can also redeem codes on the PlayStation App too.

  • Tap the PS APP
  • Near the Top Right of your Screen there’s Three Lines – Tap That
  • Second line down you’ll have “Redeem Code” Tap that
  • (It may ask you to log-in, so log-in with the account you’d like to apply your PlayStation Plus code to)
  • Enter in your “12 Digit Code”
  • Tap “Next”
  • The next screen will show you what your code is redeeming, check it matches and Select “Confirm”
  • Now Select “OK” 

There we have it! – You’re all done! – You’ll know for sure you’ve upgraded to PlayStation Plus as your Avatar on both your log in screen and Home screen will have the Yellow Plus Logo next to it! You are now set up to explore new worlds with your friends, get exclusive discounts on new titles and free monthly games! Enjoy!
